What happens after the assessment?
After gathering all the assessment data, the team members come together to share their findings, observations, and interpretations. They analyze the information collectively, looking for patterns, inconsistencies, or areas of concern.
The multi-disciplinary team compiles their findings into a comprehensive report that provides an overview of the child's strengths, areas of concern, and recommendations for further action. The report may include specific goals, strategies, and interventions tailored to the child's unique needs.
Based on the assessment outcomes and in collaboration with the family, specific goals and objectives are established for the child during IFSP meeting. IFSP stands for Individualized Family Service Plan. It is a crucial component of early intervention services provided to children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. The IFSP serves as a roadmap for identifying the child's unique needs, setting goals, and outlining the intervention strategies and services required to support the child's development. The goals from IFSP address the areas of concern and focus on promoting the child's development and functional abilities.
Where the child receives EI services
The child's home is a familiar and comfortable space where they feel at ease. By providing early intervention services at home, it creates a natural and less intimidating setting for the child. It allows them to engage in interventions within their own surroundings, promoting a sense of security and reducing anxiety. Home-based services enable early intervention professionals to observe and assess the child's daily routines, family dynamics, and environmental factors that may influence their development. Delivering early intervention services at home facilitates active participation and involvement of the family. Parents and caregivers can actively engage in the intervention process, observe the strategies, and learn how to incorporate them into their daily interactions with the child.
Daycare early intervention services integrate developmental support seamlessly into the child's daycare routine. This ensures that the child receives intervention services while participating in age-appropriate activities and interacting with peers. The focus is on promoting the child's overall development, including cognitive, language, social-emotional, and motor skills, within a natural and inclusive setting.
Community early intervention services recognize the importance of providing interventions in natural environments, including the home, community centers, parks, and other community settings. This approach allows for interventions to be delivered within the child's everyday routines and activities, enhancing generalization of skills and promoting meaningful learning experiences.
